Cargo Hold Lime Whitewash Discrepancy: Inspection Report vs. Crew Statement

During our cargo hold inspection, white traces resembling a lime coating were observed on the walls. The crew stated they applied a lime whitewash to the cargo hold walls and tanktop prior to loading. However, this contradicts the pre-loading cargo hold inspection report conducted by the shipper, "exportadora de sal, S.A. de C.V.", which makes no mention of a lime whitewash. This report was already submitted to the cargo underwriter surveyor.

Adding to the discrepancy, the crew failed to provide photographic evidence of the lime whitewash application. They also claimed to have instructions for cargo hold preparation but did not furnish these instructions to us. This inconsistency raises concerns about the accuracy of the crew's statement and the thoroughness of the cargo hold preparation process.
