USS Ranger (CV-4) was the first ship of the United States Navy to be designed and built as an aircraft carrier. She was commissioned in 1934 and served in the Pacific during World War II. Ranger was involved in numerous operations, including the Battle of the Coral Sea and the invasion of North Africa. She was decommissioned in 1946 and sold for scrap in 1947.
