However, despite Drysdale's higher win total, Koufax's dominance during his peak years was unparalleled. From 1962 to 1966, Koufax won three Cy Young Awards and an MVP Award, posted an ERA under 2.00 each season, and threw four no-hitters, including a perfect game. He also helped lead the Dodgers to three World Series championships during that span.

Koufax's career was cut short due to chronic arthritis in his left elbow, which forced him to retire at the age of 30 after the 1966 season. Despite his relatively short career, Koufax was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history
