Given the various levels of uncertainty resulting from terrorist attacks, we examine them as a common external disruption and explore their connection with firms' integration of AI technology. Our hypothesis suggests that firms impacted by terrorism may reduce their R&D efforts, but they are motivated to develop and implement AI innovations to manage operational uncertainties. Consequently, we anticipate that terrorism-affected firms will experience a greater increase in AI-related innovations compared to unaffected firms following a terrorist attack
