Qian Xuesen, often referred to as "Qian Xuesen" in Chinese, was a prominent Chinese scientist and engineer who played a significant role in the development of rocketry and space technology. He was also a key figure in founding China's space program. Qian Xuesen studied in the United States and worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the 1940s before returning to China.

While Qian Xuesen's association with JPL was significant in his early career, he later became more closely associated with China's space program and other scientific and technological endeavors in the country. He is considered a pioneer in the field of rocketry and space exploration in both China and the United States
