This study included 402 patients with stage III colon cancer who underwent primary tumor resection at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. The patients met specific criteria, including a diagnosis of colon adenocarcinoma, curative resection of the colon tumor, adjuvant chemotherapy with the XELOX regimen, complete pathological data, no preoperative anticancer treatment, American Society of Anesthesiologists class I-II, and at least 3 months of postoperative follow-up. The study collected clinical information, including demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment details, and follow-up data, from the electronic medical record system. Right-sided colon cancer was defined as tumors located in the cecum, ascending colon, hepatic flexure, and transverse colon, while left-sided colon cancer was recognized as tumors in the splenic flexure, descending colon, and sigmoid colon. The study was conducted in accordance with ethical standards and approved by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee. Patient data were kept confidential.
