Cargo Destroyed - Consignee Failed to Notify Carrier

The consignee informed us that the cargo from the subject container was destroyed in January of this year. However, they did not notify us at that time. The consignee stated that they were unsure if the carrier would be held responsible, as the shipper was handling subsequent cargo claims.
