Side-Pumped Tm,Ho:YAG Laser System: Experimental Setup and Uniform Pump Distribution

The experimental setup for the side-pumped Tm,Ho:YAG laser system is depicted in Figure 1. The laser head consists of three LD arrays, a glass tube, a Tm,Ho:YAG crystal rod, and a ceramic diffusive optical reflector. The three LD arrays are symmetrically arranged around the reflector in a tri-fold fashion. The inner surface of the reflector has a high reflectivity (R>97%), which enables the pump light to be reflected uniformly within the crystal rod. This results in the formation of a uniform pump distribution, facilitating optimal laser performance.
