Cargo Hold Limewash Discrepancy - Inadequate Coating and Missing Report

During our inspection of the cargo hold, we observed white traces on the walls that resembled a lime coating. However, the thickness of this coating appears inadequate based on our experience. This is concerning because the crew stated they had applied a lime whitewash to the cargo hold walls and tank top prior to loading. Adding to the concern, the cargo hold inspection report conducted by the exporter, Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V., prior to loading did not mention the presence of a lime whitewash. This report had already been submitted to the cargo underwriter surveyor before our attendance. This discrepancy raises questions about the thoroughness of the pre-loading inspection and the adequacy of the cargo hold preparation.
