Inadequate Lime Whitewash in Cargo Hold Raises Concerns

The crew stated they applied a lime whitewash to the cargo hold wall and tanktop prior to loading. During our inspection, we observed white traces on the cargo hold wall, suggesting a lime coating was applied. However, the thickness of this coating appears inadequate based on our experience. It is important to note that the pre-loading cargo hold inspection report, conducted by the shipper, exportadora de sal, S.A. de C.V., did not mention the application of a lime whitewash. This report was submitted to the cargo underwriter surveyor before our inspection.
