Soybean Heat Damage Loss Assessment: Challenges and Estimated Amount

As mentioned in the previous emails dated April 25 and 27, we have encountered difficulties in accurately assessing the losses resulting from soybean heat damage using conventional methods. Typically, to calculate this type of cargo loss, we collect processing data of damaged cargo and compare it with that of normal cargo to determine product yield loss and processing cost loss. However, the receiver has not provided the processing data of normal cargo, making it impossible for us to make such a comparison.

For your reference, we have consulted a document called 'SOYBEAN GRADE REQUIREMENTS AND DISCOUNT SCHEDULES', which the consignee previously used to demonstrate their losses in a previous case. This document provides examples of discounts based on a percentage of the commodity price (e.g. 0.25% for every 0.5% increase in damage). Based on this discount ratio and the analysis report from ITS, we estimate the potential loss amount to be approximately USD one million.
