Incident Report: Seawater Discharge at Caofeidian Anchorage
Date: August 3, 2023 Time: Approximately 14:50 hrs Location: Caofeidian anchorage
Summary:
During routine cleaning operations on August 3, 2023, our crew used seawater to clean the hatch cover and deck of the vessel while at anchor in Caofeidian. Unfortunately, some of the seawater used in this process flowed into the sea from the starboard side stern.
This incident was observed by the crew of a nearby vessel, who documented the event by capturing photos and videos. They subsequently reported the incident to the Maritime Safety Administration (MSA), providing their real names and evidence.
We are cooperating fully with the MSA in their investigation of this incident. We take environmental responsibility seriously and are reviewing our procedures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
