Seawater Deck Wash Results in Potential Fine for Vessel

A vessel's crew found themselves in potential hot water after using seawater to wash down the hatch cover and deck, allowing the water to discharge into the sea from the starboard side stern. The incident was observed by the crew of a nearby vessel who documented the activity by taking photos and videos. They then reported the incident, using their real names, to the Maritime Safety Administration (MSA). As a result of this report, the MSA officer is considering imposing a fine on the vessel in question.
