The study period witnessed a notable upward trend in both new first-tier cities and second-tier cities in China. However, the growth trend observed after 2015 demonstrated a much stronger momentum compared to the preceding years. Furthermore, the disparity between these two city tiers widened to a certain extent post-2015.
