Lagged Patent Applications as a Proxy for Firm Innovation Intention

This study examines the relationship between firms' innovation intention and the number of patent applications, taking into account the time lag by using lagged one-period data. The number of patent applications directly reflects the true innovation intention of firms, this paper uses lagged one-period data of patent applications considering the time lag.
