Joint Survey Report: Damaged Cargo in Container EITU1842706
Dear Mr. Dong,
Good day!
This report summarizes the joint survey conducted this morning regarding the alleged damage to cargo in container EITU1842706. The survey was conducted on a 'Without Prejudice' (WP) basis.
Attendees:
- [Your Name] (Surveyor)
- Ms. Li and colleagues (Consignee's Logistics Representatives)
- Mr. Dong (Consignee's Quality Control Department)
- Mr. Dong (Cargo Underwriter Surveyor)
- Mr. Chen and colleagues from CIMC (Land Transportation Carrier Representatives)
Findings:
Container:
- The container is generally in good condition, exhibiting only minor dents and localized rust. The ventilation cap appears sound.
- The rubber seal strip at the bottom of the right-side container door is cracked. The remaining rubber strips are in good condition.
- A hole (approximately 3cm x 4cm) with irregular shaping and significant rust is present on the roof plate near the right-side corner fitting.
Cargo:
- Container EITU1842706 holds 48 pallets of cargo, stacked three layers high in two rows of eight columns.
- The cargo's outer packaging consists of double-layer corrugated cardboard cartons on wooden pallets. Inside, the cargo is packed in plastic bags within small cardboard boxes, further protected by corrugated paperboard within the cartons.
- The cardboard packaging of three pallets adjacent to the right container door (directly below the roof hole) is damp and deformed. The remaining cargo packaging appears intact. A S/N test on the wet packaging was negative. The consignee believes these three cartons require further examination for water damage.
- The affected cartons contain Angular Contact Ball Bearings (320 pieces per carton, totaling 960 pieces). Some internal cardboard boxes are also damp and deformed. Water droplets or traces are present on some plastic bags, and some cargo displays oxidized color patches.
- The cargo was transferred to the QC department for inspection and sorting. Observation was limited to outside the workshop due to factory regulations. The consignee's sorting identified 648 pieces as intact and ready for use. The remaining 312 pieces exhibit varying degrees of packaging or water damage, requiring further machine inspection.
- As per the consignee's invoice, the unit price is 19.5 euros. The potential value of the 312 affected pieces is 6,084 euros.
Other Matters:
- The container has been returned to the container yard (CY), and the unaffected cargo released to the consignee without claims.
- The cargo underwriter surveyor recommends another joint survey of any confirmed damaged cargo following the final inspection.
- Due to factory regulations prohibiting electronic devices, the factory provided camera equipment to document the processes. They have assured us of prompt photo delivery. A comprehensive report will follow upon receiving these photos.
Thank you for your attention.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
