Cargo Damage Report - Container EITU1842706
Please note that the writer attended the joint survey of the alleged damaged cargo at the consignee's factory this morning, as instructed on a WP basis. Also present at the joint survey were Ms. Li, the consignee's logistics representative, and her colleagues, Mr. Dong from the QC department and his colleagues, Mr. Dong, the cargo underwriter surveyor, Mr. Chen and his colleagues from CIMC, the representative of the land transportation carrier. The following are our findings from the spot survey:
Container:
- The container's overall structure is in good condition, with only some dents and localized rust marks. The ventilation cap is in sound condition.
- The rubber seal strip at the bottom of the right-side container door is cracked. The rest of the rubber strips show no abnormalities.
- There is a roughly 3*5cm hole with an irregular shape and severe rust on the roof plate near the right-side corner fitting.
Cargo:
- Container EITU1842706 contains a total of 48 pallets of cargo, stacked 3 layers high and 2 rows of 8 columns in the container.
- The outermost layer of packaging consists of double-layer corrugated cardboard cartons placed on wooden pallets. The cargo is placed in plastic bags and then packaged in small cardboard boxes, with the small boxes supported and protected by corrugated paperboard in the carton.
- The cardboard packaging of the three pallets located next to the container door (directly below the hole) is damp and deformed, while the rest of the cargo's outer packaging is intact. The consignee believes that only the three affected pallets need further inspection for water damage, as the rest of the cargo has been received normally.
- The cargo in the three affected cartons consists of Angular Contact Ball Bearings, with 320 pieces per carton, totaling 960 pieces. Some of the internal small cardboard boxes have also been damp and deformed. There are water droplets or traces on the outside of the plastic bags, and some of the cargo's surfaces show oxidized color patches.
- The cargo was subsequently sent to the QC department for inspection and sorting. However, we were not allowed to enter the workshop and could only witness the process from outside. According to the consignee's sorting results, 648 pieces were considered intact and ready for use. The remaining 312 pieces have varying degrees of packaging damage or water damage and need further machine inspection.
- According to the invoice provided by the consignee, the unit price of the cargo is 19.5 euros, and the total value of the 312 potentially affected pieces is 6,084 euros.
Other matters: Currently, the container has been returned to the CY, and the unaffected cargo has been received and put into use normally. The cargo underwriter surveyor suggests that if the final inspection result shows damage, the relevant parties should conduct another joint survey of the damaged cargo. According to the factory's requirements, all electronic products are not allowed to be brought into the factory area. The factory has provided its camera for us to record the relevant processes. The factory has stated that all photos will be sent to us as soon as possible. We will prepare a report for your reference as soon as we receive the relevant photos.
