Mold Contamination Risk in Oil Seeds: Impact on Cooking Oil Production

Based on the consignee information, the cargoes are intended for the production of cooking oil. However, there is a risk that the extracted oil may not meet the required standards due to mold growth on the cargo. This could make the oil unsuitable for further use in edible oil production. Our experience indicates that heat damage to oil seeds often leads to reduced oil yield and compromised quality. Additionally, mold contamination can result in the presence of toxins beyond permissible limits. Therefore, further laboratory testing is necessary to determine if the seeds can still be used for their original purpose. Considering the small quantity of the cargo, we suggest conducting a market inquiry to determine the residual value of the cargo.
