Moldy Oil Seeds: Impact on Oil Extraction and Potential Solutions

According to the consignee information, the cargoes are intended for use in oil extraction. However, due to the mold growth on the cargo, there is a risk that certain indicators of the extracted oil may not meet the required standards, rendering it unsuitable for further production of edible oil. Based on our experience, heat damage to oil seeds often leads to decreased oil yield and compromised oil quality. Additionally, mold contamination can result in the presence of toxins beyond permissible limits. Nevertheless, further laboratory testing is required to ascertain whether the seeds in this case can still serve their original purpose. Given the small quantity of the goods, we recommend utilizing the market inquiry method to determine the residual value of the goods.
