rested on the mirror, and she saw her reflection, a tired and old woman. She realized that she had spent her entire life chasing after something that was not worth it. She sat down on the bed, feeling the weight of the years on her shoulders, and started to cry.
Jenny arrived at Mathilde's house, panting and out of breath. She knocked on the door and waited for her friend to answer. But there was no response. She tried again, but still, no one answered. She started to worry. She knew how fragile Mathilde was, and she feared that something terrible had happened to her. She decided to break into the house, and when she entered, she found Mathilde lying on the bed, sobbing.
Jenny rushed to her friend's side and held her tightly. "I'm sorry, Mathilde, I'm so sorry," she said, tears streaming down her own face. "I should have told you the truth about the necklace. I never meant to hurt you."
Mathilde looked up at her friend and saw the genuine sorrow in her eyes. She knew that Jenny was truly sorry. She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath. "It's not your fault, Jenny," she said. "I should have known better. I wasted my entire life chasing after something that was not worth it."
Jenny handed Mathilde the necklace, and Mathilde looked at it for a moment before throwing it across the room. "I don't want it," she said. "It's just a worthless piece of junk."
Jenny nodded in agreement. "Yes, it is," she said. "But you are not worthless, Mathilde. You are a beautiful person, inside and out."
Mathilde smiled weakly. "Thank you, Jenny," she said. "You are a true friend. And I am sorry for being so foolish."
Jenny hugged her friend tightly. "It's okay," she said. "We all make mistakes. The important thing is that we learn from them."
Mathilde nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that she had a lot of work to do to rebuild her life, but with the help of her friend, she knew that she could do it. She looked at Jenny and smiled. "Thank you," she said. "Thank you for everything."
Jenny smiled back at her. "Anytime, Mathilde," she said. "Anytime.
