2 The Cargo Securing Manual shall contain all information necessary for the master and officers to ensure that cargo carried on board the ship is loaded, stowed and secured in accordance with the requirements of the CSS Code and in a manner that ensures the safety of the ship and persons on board, and the prevention of damage to the environment.

3 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be specific to the ship and shall be developed in consultation with the ship's classification society, where appropriate.

4 The Cargo Securing Manual shall include the following information:

(a) General information on the ship and its cargo spaces, including the maximum allowable cargo weight, the maximum allowable stacking height, and the maximum allowable forces and accelerations to which the cargo units and cargo transport units may be subjected during the voyage;

(b) Procedures for the safe loading, stowage and securing of cargo units and cargo transport units, including the use of appropriate equipment and securing devices;

(c) Information on the strength and stability of the ship's structure, including the strength of decks, hatch covers, and securing points;

(d) Procedures for the inspection and maintenance of cargo securing equipment, including lashings, twistlocks, and other securing devices;

(e) Emergency procedures for the release of cargo units and cargo transport units in the event of an emergency;

(f) Procedures for the monitoring of cargo securing arrangements during the voyage;

(g) Procedures for the preparation of the ship for heavy weather, including the reduction of cargo weight or the jettisoning of cargo if necessary;

(h) Procedures for the reporting of deficiencies in the Cargo Securing Manual or cargo securing arrangements to the Administration.

5 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be written in a clear and concise manner and shall be readily accessible to the master and officers at all times.

6 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be reviewed and updated at regular intervals to ensure that it remains up to date and relevant to the ship and its cargo operations.

7 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be approved by the Administration and shall be kept on board the ship at all times.

8 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be available for inspection by Port State Control officers and other authorities upon request.

9 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be provided to the ship's crew in a language that they understand.

10 The Cargo Securing Manual shall be supplemented by appropriate training for the ship's crew on the safe loading, stowage and securing of cargo units and cargo transport units
