igh and weighs 200 tons. It is known as the “Tablet of Great Merits of the Ming Tomb of the Great Ming Dynasty” and was erected in 1413. The tablet is engraved with 3,953 Chinese characters, describing the life and achievements of Emperor Zhu Y uanzhang.

After passing the Square City, we enter the second section of the mausoleum, which is the burial area. The first building we see is the Hall of Eminent Favor, where the spirit tablet of Emperor Zhu Y uanzhang is enshrined. The hall is 33 meters high and covers an area of 1,700 square meters. It is supported by 64 columns made of nanmu wood, a rare and precious wood in China.

Behind the Hall of Eminent Favor, there is a courtyard and a gate leading to the Underground Palace. The Underground Palace is the actual tomb of Emperor Zhu Y uanzhang, which is 27 meters deep underground. It consists of three chambers and is surrounded by a stone wall. The entrance to the Underground Palace is sealed and cannot be opened.

The Xiaoling Tomb is not only a magnificent architectural complex, but also a valuable historical and cultural heritage. It reflects the imperial power and artistic achievements of the Ming Dynasty, as well as the life and personality of Emperor Zhu Y uanzhang.
