ntities. Where a unit of measurement is not specified, the unit shall be deemed to be one (1). 5. The Contractor shall be responsible for the proper and complete execution of all the works described in the Bill of Quantities, and shall be deemed to have inspected and examined the site and to have satisfied himself as to the nature and extent of the works and of the materials required before submitting his bid. 6. The Engineer shall have the right to vary the quantities of work shown in the Bill of Quantities, or to omit any item of work, or to add any item of work, as may be necessary for the completion of the works, and the Contractor shall carry out such variation, omission, or addition at the rates and prices specified in the Bill of Quantities or as may be agreed upon between the Engineer and the Contractor. 7. The Contractor shall keep a proper record of all materials used and labour employed in the execution of the works, and shall allow the Engineer or his representative access to such records at all reasonable times. 8. The Contractor shall provide all necessary labour, plant, and materials for the proper completion of the works, and shall ensure that all work is executed in accordance with the Contract. B. Units of Measurements 1. The units of measurement used in the Bill of Quantities shall be as follows: a. Length: Meter (m) b. Area: Square meter (m2) c. Volume: Cubic meter (m3) d. Mass: Kilogram (kg) e. Number: Each (EA) 2. Where the units of measurement are not specified, the Contractor shall use the appropriate units as determined by the Engineer. C. Bill of Quantities Series 1000 - General This series covers the general items of work required for the construction of the works. It includes items such as mobilisation, site clearance, earthworks, and fencing. Series 2000 - Drainage This series covers the drainage works required for the construction of the works. It includes items such as culverts, manholes, and pipes. Series 3000 - Earthworks and Pavement Layers of Gravel or Crushed Stone This series covers the earthworks and pavement layers of gravel or crushed stone required for the construction of the works. It includes items such as subgrade preparation, subbase, and base courses. Series 4000 - Bituminous Layers and Seals and Concrete Paving Surface This series covers the bituminous layers and seals and concrete paving surface required for the construction of the works. It includes items such as wearing courses, binder courses, and concrete pavements. Series 5000 - Ancillary Roadworks This series covers the ancillary roadworks required for the construction of the works. It includes items such as kerbs, footpaths, and road markings. Conclusion This Bill of Quantities is to be used as a basis for tendering purposes only and is not to be construed as a firm offer. The Contractor is to provide his own quantities for the works and is to price his tender accordingly.
