Edison, who was heavily invested in the direct current (DC) system, launched a campaign to discredit Tesla's AC system, even going so far as to publicly electrocute animals with AC to show its supposed dangers. This led to a bitter rivalry between the two inventors, with Edison even offering Tesla a large sum of money to improve his DC system. Tesla, however, refused and continued to work on his AC system, eventually winning the war of currents when his AC system was chosen to power the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

Aside from his work on AC power systems, Tesla also made numerous other important inventions, including the Tesla coil, which is still used in radio and television technology today. He also worked on wireless communication and even envisioned a wireless power transmission system, which has yet to be fully realized. Tesla was also a pioneer in the field of robotics, developing a remote control boat and even proposing a system of automated transportation.

Tesla's legacy.

Despite his many contributions to science and technology, Tesla died in relative obscurity and poverty. It wasn't until later in the 20th century that he began to be recognized as a true genius and innovator. Today, Tesla is remembered as one of the greatest inventors and engineers of all time, with his legacy living on in everything from the power grid to our modern communication systems
