Optimality Principles: Explaining Diverse Responses of Alpine Vegetation to Environmental Change

This paper examines 'optimality principles' as a framework for understanding the divergent responses of alpine vegetation to environmental change. Alpine ecosystems are particularly sensitive to climate change and other anthropogenic stressors, leading to a range of responses from species and communities.
