Title: I Am Monkey
Grade level: Kindergarten
Objective: To introduce students to the concept of monkeys, their characteristics, and behavior.

Procedure:
- Introduction (10 minutes):

- Introduce the monkey plush toy or puppet and ask students if they can identify it as a monkey.
- Explain that monkeys are animals that live in the jungle and that they have some unique characteristics that make them different from other animals.
- Read Aloud (15 minutes):
- Read a book about monkeys to the class, such as "Caps for Sale" by Esphyr Slobodkina or "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" by Eileen Christelow.
- As you read, stop to ask students questions about the story and the behavior of the monkeys.
- Charting (10 minutes):
- On chart paper, make a list of characteristics of monkeys that the students identified from the pictures and the book.
- Ask students to contribute additional facts or observations they have about monkeys.
- Playdough Activity (15 minutes):
- Give each student a small ball of playdough.

- Encourage them to color their monkey with as many colors as they want and to be creative with their designs.
