Whats SIDS
SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, which is a sudden and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant under the age of one. It is also known as crib death because it often occurs during sleep in a crib or bassinet. The exact cause of SIDS is unknown, but it is believed to be related to abnormalities in the baby's brainstem that affect breathing and heart rate. There are several risk factors that may increase the likelihood of SIDS, including placing the baby to sleep on their stomach, exposure to secondhand smoke, and overheating. Prevention measures include placing the baby on their back to sleep, using a firm and flat sleep surface, and avoiding soft bedding or objects in the sleep area
