This paper presents a BESO approach for minimizing structural fatigue damage through topology optimization. While the authors have considered five numerical design cases, the current results are not sufficient to fully validate the method.
- The results obtained for fatigue damage are similar to those obtained with stress constraints. Further investigation is necessary to demonstrate the benefits of fatigue damage targeted design, considering the additional computational efforts required.
- The method is capable of accommodating multiple cyclic block fatigue loads. However, this work does not demonstrate the effect of variant block loads on the designed topology. It is important to investigate this effect to validate the proposed method.
- It is recommended that the authors present the method in greater detail through two or three design cases, with more critical comparison investigations
