Jack: No, I'm just looking.
(Mr. Johnson continues counting money. Jack picks up a candy bar and puts it in his pocket.)
Scene 2 (Setting: School hallway)
(Jack is walking through the hallway. Karen approaches him.)
Karen: Hey, Jack. Have you seen my phone? I think I left it in the store.
Jack: No, sorry. I didn't see it.
Karen: Oh, okay. Thanks anyway.
(Jack continues walking. Suddenly, a police officer stops him.)
Police Officer: Excuse me, young man. Can you come with me?
Jack: What's going on?
Police Officer: We've received a report of theft at the convenience store. The owner says he saw you take a candy bar without paying for it.
Jack: What? No, I didn't!
Scene 3 (Setting: Police station)
(Jack is sitting in a chair, looking upset. The police officer is questioning him.)

Karen: Yes, I'm positive. It was Jack.

Karen: Okay. I feel bad, but I know what I saw.
Act 2 Scene 1 (Setting: Police station)
(Jack is still being questioned by the police officer. Karen enters the room.)
Karen: Officer, I need to tell you something.
Police Officer: What is it?
Karen: I made a mistake. I thought I saw Jack taking a candy bar, but it turns out I was wrong. I found my phone in my locker at school.
Police Officer: Are you serious? You've been accusing an innocent person?
Karen: I'm so sorry, Jack. I didn't mean to cause you trouble.
Jack: It's okay. I'm just glad it's cleared up now.
Scene 2 (Setting: Convenience store)
(Jack enters the store. Mr. Johnson looks surprised to see him.)
Mr. Johnson: Jack, I'm sorry for accusing you of stealing. It turns out it was a misunderstanding.
Jack: It's okay. I understand.
Mr. Johnson: To make it up to you, I'd like to offer you a job here at the store. I could use a responsible young man like you.
Jack: Really? That's great! Thank you.

(Jack is walking through the hallway. Karen approaches him.)
Karen: Jack, I just wanted to apologize again for what happened. I feel terrible.
Jack: Don't worry about it, Karen. I forgive you.
Karen: Thank you. And congratulations on your new job!
Jack: Thanks. It's all thanks to you, actually.
Karen: (smiling) I'm just glad everything worked out in the end.
(Jack and Karen walk off in opposite directions.)
