Actuators: Types, Energy Sources & Applications in Industry

Actuators are the components that convert energy into mechanical energy. They are used to generate a motion or to apply a force/torque.

In the industry, we find 3 main sources of energy:

• Hydraulic actuators that use pressurized liquid
• Pneumatic actuators which use compressed gas
• Electric actuators which convert electric energy into mechanical energy.
