Abstract: Digital transformation is a key challenge for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to remain competitive in today's fast-paced business environment. This study examines the role of organizational learning in SMEs' digital transformation efforts. Drawing on a sample of 192 Spanish SMEs, the authors find that organizational learning positively affects SMEs' digital transformation, as it enables them to acquire and integrate new digital knowledge and capabilities. Specifically, the authors identify three types of organizational learning that are particularly relevant for SMEs' digital transformation: exploratory learning, exploitative learning, and ambidextrous learning. The findings suggest that SMEs can enhance their digital transformation efforts by fostering a learning culture that encourages experimentation, risk-taking, and continuous improvement.
