Assessing Spring Frost Impact on Crop Yield Loss: A New Intensity-Based Approach

To address the issue of contradictory research findings, we have developed a new approach to assess the impact of spring frost on crop yield loss. Our approach considers the intensity of spring frost events as a crucial factor in determining the severity of the impact on agricultural productivity. Our research has revealed that the intensity of spring frost events tends to increase with temperature anomalies, underscoring the role of climate change in exacerbating the effects of frost on crops.

Moreover, our analysis has shown a positive correlation between the intensity of spring frost events and the extent of crop yield loss for corn, soybean, and winter wheat. This suggests that the severity of spring frost events is closely linked to the level of crop yield loss.
