Cargo Inspection at Terminal Reveals Fuel Seepage
Our surveyor conducted an inspection of the cargo at the terminal on July 27 and 28. The cargo pile remained unchanged and was still stored in the D1 open yard. It was surrounded by flood prevention sandbags and covered with protective nets for safety. No traces of fuel were found outside of the sandbags. However, when the net was lifted, fuel oil was observed to be seeping from the bottom of the cargo pile. The terminal informed us that they were closely monitoring the condition of the cargo pile. The rate of fuel seepage was relatively slow, and they were currently implementing regular clean-up measures to address the seeped fuel. The pollutants were being temporarily collected and placed in pollution collection barrels near the cargo pile. The terminal had not yet disclosed the next steps of the cargo handling plan, but they had mentioned ongoing discussions with the consignee to determine the best course of action.
