According to the Ship's Officer on board (SOF), there was a rainfall record, which resulted in the suspension of loading operations. If hatch covers are not closed during rain, the exposed upper surface in the shape and size of the hatch square will quickly absorb rainwater. The damage would primarily occur under the hatch square.
