Cargo Contamination Incident: Fuel Leak and Contamination Assessment
Due to pollution concerns, our inspectors diligently monitored the condition of the goods. On the afternoon of the 20th, we discovered a significant fuel leak from the bottom of the cargo pile. Immediately, we notified the dockyard, who promptly cleaned up the spilled fuel. To prevent any further spread of the fuel with rainwater, the dockyard placed waterproof sandbags around the cargo pile and deployed oil-absorbent mats within the enclosure.
According to the information provided by the dockyard, the normal cargo unloaded from hold 5 has been weighed, totaling 6632.6 metric tons. Considering the stowage plan, which indicates a total cargo volume of 10800 Mt for hold 5, it is estimated that the quantity of contaminated goods amounts to 4167 Mt.
