Oil Boom Installation Not Required Due to Effective Rainwater Management

Due to the forecast of heavy rainfall, the crew was concerned about the potential risk of rainwater not being collected promptly and entering the sea. As a precautionary measure, they requested SPRO to install oil booms. In response to this concern, SPRO conducted two on-board inspections as requested by the captain and shipowner.

After a thorough assessment, SPRO determined that the risk could be effectively managed without the need for oil boom installation. Therefore, it was concluded that continuing with the cleanup operations did not pose a significant danger. As a result, the decision was made not to proceed with the installation of oil booms.
