Fuel Spill During Unloading Process at Port: Terminal Responds with Oil Spill Cleanup
During the unloading process, especially in the later stages, a significant amount of fuel was present in the cargo, resulting in unavoidable fuel dripping during the transfer from the cargo hold to the shore. Some of the fuel even ended up floating onto the deck and into the sea. Even after the ship shifted to the new berth, the spilled fuel on the hull continued to flow into the sea. To address this issue, the terminal promptly arranged for a pollution control vessel to remove the oil spill from the sea surface, successfully cleaning up the surface oil pollution. It is understood that the terminal has communicated with the local Maritime Safety Administration (MSA). However, it should be noted that the MSA did not board the ship for investigation.
