Dock Operations and Potential Contamination of Goods During Land Transportation
According to the dock information, the goods are transported to the consignee's yard directly via land transportation. However, due to concerns about environmental pollution caused by fuel spillage during transportation, any goods contaminated by fuel are unloaded separately into the D1 yard within the dock premises. This yard is located approximately 500 meters away from the shore.
Inside the cargo hold, the goods are extracted using an orange peel grab weighing approximately 30 tons. They are then transferred to a funnel placed on the shore, from where they are loaded onto vehicles. The dock has made arrangements for several vehicles exclusively designated for transporting contaminated goods. The grab determines whether to handle normal goods or contaminated goods based on the vehicles that arrive to transport the goods. However, due to the use of the grab, it is inevitable that a certain portion of both good and contaminated goods may become mixed and unloaded. Moreover, since the normal goods and contaminated goods share the same funnel, there is a possibility of contamination affecting some of the normal goods.
