CEUS Detects Unenhanced Floating Thrombus and Plaque Vulnerability Not Seen on CTA, DSA, and Ultrasound

CEUS confirmed the presence of an unenhanced floating thrombus at the distal end of the plaque, which was further confirmed by CTA and DSA. However, CEUS went beyond these modalities by also detecting small ulcers and abundant neovascularization within the plaque. These crucial markers of plaque vulnerability were not visible on conventional ultrasound, highlighting the superior sensitivity of CEUS in assessing plaque morphology and risk.
