Gas Bottle Usage and Maintenance: Master's Lack of Familiarity Leads to Incident

As the Master had only recently joined the vessel, he had limited knowledge about the maintenance and usage of the Gas bottles. According to his understanding, the acetylene had been completely depleted prior to the accident. The Oxygen bottle, on the other hand, had been utilized by the repair team on August 29 during their work on the ship's shore. Following its use, the Oxygen bottle was promptly returned to the cage located aft of the engine room.
