Gas Bottle Usage and Maintenance Incident: Master's Knowledge Limited

As the Master had only recently joined the vessel one month ago, his knowledge regarding the maintenance and usage of gas bottles was limited. According to his understanding, the acetylene had been fully consumed prior to the accident. Additionally, the Oxygen bottle had been utilized by the repair team on August 29 while conducting ship repairs on the shore. Following its use, the Oxygen bottle was returned to the cage located aft of the engine room.
