Gas Bottle Usage and Maintenance: An Incident Report

As the Master had only joined the vessel one month ago, his knowledge about the maintenance and usage of Gas bottles was limited. To his understanding, the acetylene had been depleted prior to the accident. Additionally, the Oxygen bottle had been utilized by the repair team on August 29 during the ship's maintenance on the shore. Once used, the Oxygen bottle was subsequently returned to the cage located aft of the engine room.
