Tm-Ho Co-doped Laser Materials for High-Power 2.1 μm Laser Systems
Tm-Ho co-doped laser materials have emerged as highly desirable candidates for the development of simple and high-power 2.1 μm laser systems. These materials offer significant advantages, including their ability to be optically pumped by commercially available laser diodes (LDs) operating at around 785nm. This optical pumping mechanism, combined with efficient cross-relaxation and rapid energy transfer processes within the Tm-Ho co-doped system, enables the achievement of efficient laser operation at the desired 2.1 μm wavelength. This makes Tm-Ho co-doped materials particularly attractive for a range of applications requiring high-power and efficient laser sources in the 2 μm spectral region.
