High Power 2.05 μm Continuous Wave Laser Operation in Tm,Ho:GdVO4 Crystals

Researchers have achieved significant progress in high-power continuous wave (cw) laser operation at 2.05 μm using Tm,Ho:GdVO4 crystals. In a recent study, they utilized two of these crystals under identical cooling conditions and successfully generated a cw output power of 20.5 W at the desired wavelength. Moreover, the laser system exhibited excellent beam quality with an M2 value of less than 1.2. This development holds promising prospects for applications requiring high-power and high-quality laser sources in the 2 μm spectral region, including sensing, medicine, and material processing.
