Cargo Damage Investigation: Discoloration and Foul Odor - Determining Liability
Based on the on-site survey, the primary issue with the cargo was discoloration, with some even emitting a foul odor. This is typically due to improper storage conditions, such as exposure to high temperatures. However, it's also possible that the cargo's quality was poor, such as the shrimp body already being discolored prior to being caught.
The receiver alleges that the cargo was found to be damaged during devanning and suspects that high temperatures during transport may be the cause. However, no evidence has been provided to support these claims. The receiver has not provided cargo temperature records during transport.
During our inspection, it had been over a month since devanning, and the receiver had not provided any evidence of proper preservation of the cargo during this period. Without sufficient information, it is difficult for us to determine when the cargo was damaged.
We look forward to receiving temperature records for the container to assess the cause of cargo damage.
