MDA as a Biomarker for Cell Membrane Peroxidation in Plants: Quantification Method

MDA is a biomarker indicative of the extent of cell membrane peroxidation in plant cells. The biomarker was isolated using thiobarbituric acid (TBA) and quantified through a spectrophotometric method (Bao et al., 2009). The absorption levels at 532 and 600 nm were measured using a UV-6100PCS spectrophotometer (MAPADA Instrument Co., Ltd, Shanghai, China), and the difference in absorption was utilized to compute the MDA concentration.
