Background:

On September 7th, following a request from the Maritime Bureau, an inspection team from the vessel 'TUJU ARROW' met with officials to address concerns regarding the discharge of domestic sewage during its recent voyage. The inspection team consisted of the captain, chief engineer, and three watch officers.

The 'TUJU ARROW', owned by Gearbulk Shipowning Limited and managed by Gearbulk Norway AS, departed Changshu Port on September 3rd, 2023, en route to Tianjin. We arrived at Tianjin Lingang L12 Terminal at approximately 0424 hours on September 6th, 2023.

The discharge of untreated domestic sewage in the Bohai Sea was due to an oversight, and the discharge valve was closed as soon as this was identified. The remaining domestic sewage was treated by the ship's system before being discharged during the berthing period. We acknowledge the seriousness of this incident and are cooperating fully with the Maritime Bureau's investigation.'
