Predictions had been made before the launch of JWST that it couldachieve numerous detections of high-redshift AGN Volonteri et al2017 and the initial results from JWST have provided such AGNcandidates

It is likely that the continued observations with JWST will lead to the discovery of even more high-redshift AGN, including those in lower-mass host haloes. These detections will provide important insights into the formation and evolution of the first galaxies, and help to further refine our understanding of the role of supermassive black holes in the early universe. Additionally, the improved observations of AGN in more local galaxies will continue to enhance our understanding of the processes driving supermassive black hole activity in the present-day universe
