My Quest 2 Journey: From Virtual Reality Newbie to Bonelab Enthusiast
Imagine you're a kid who's always dreamt of having a Nintendo console or a computer, wanting it so badly you'd do anything to get it. Well, for me, that thing was the Quest 2, and I finally got it - I love it so much! You might be thinking, 'Why did you want the Quest 2, and why are you telling a dumb story about some stupid thing that probably costs as much as a MacBook?'
Firstly, it's cool! Secondly, it's changed me into someone different. It's wireless, the same price as a Switch, but better. So here's the story of how I got my Quest 2:
I was with my real dad, not my step-dad, and we went to the park. I also got an inflatable ball, so we were just having fun and messing around. Then my dad sent me home, and we got pizza. When I got home and walked inside, I saw a big TV. We used to have a small, stupid TV that could only play Netflix. Then I saw a box that said 'Quest 2,' and I froze. After a few seconds, I grabbed the box and rushed to my room. I opened it and saw the VR headset. I turned it on and went through the setup process. When I was done, I was sent to the home environment, and I was amazed at the tiny details. Everything looked 3D, and I was amazed.
I went to the store and saw a demo for a game called 'Superhot.' I thought, 'What is 'Superhot'?' So I installed it, and when it was done, I played the game. I was surprised at how good it could be, and it was fun. The game is basically about shooting some red people. When I was done, I saw a game called 'Gorilla Tag,' which had a unique locomotion system. I got into the game and went through the tutorial. I was like, 'Huh? Where are my legs?' I looked around, and the place looked like a cave. I used my arms to get out of the tutorial, and then I looked down and saw a forest. I jumped down, and I was in the multiplayer lobby with nine other people. I explored the forest, changed my name and color at the stump, and checked out the Gorilla Shop. I saw the October sale and a free cosmetic, which was a bag face that said 'boo' with eye holes. Someone taught me how to get better at the game, and I even learned how to run faster and wall climb.
Later, I was watching YouTube on the big TV and saw a video about a game called 'This Game Is Gonna Revolutionize Games Forever.' It was called 'Boneworks,' and I thought, 'What is 'Boneworks'?' So I decided to do some research and found out it's a physics-based game where everything is physics-based, even the enemies. But the only bad thing was that it was only for PCVR, not Quest 2. However, I heard that Stress Level Zero, the creators of 'Boneworks,' were making a game that would be for PC and Quest. When I heard it was coming to Quest, I was really excited. I waited a few months, and then I saw the teaser footage. It showed gameplay footage of the game called 'Bonelab,' which was fully physics-based with a full-body avatar and a revolutionary avatar system. The game engine would use the avatar proportions to determine speed and strength. I was shaking with excitement about the physics part. Soon, the main trailer was released, and no one expected it to be released on Thursday. Everyone was like, 'What?!' And that's what I was saying too. The price was revealed to be $40, and even though it was kind of expensive, it was worth it because the game was also on Quest. This was a big deal because 'Boneworks' was a PCVR-only game, so you needed a PC. But when 'Bonelab' was released, it was on Quest 2 and had mod support, which 'Boneworks' didn't have.
However, when people played the game, some said, 'The physics feel worse than 'Boneworks'!' or 'The game is too short! We want more!' But I think the game is really good because it is smaller, and while I know you can take different paths, 'Bonelab' is more optimized so my PC doesn't overheat. My favorite map is 'Street Puncher' because I get to punch things. Recently, I got 'Bonelab Fusion,' which is a code mod that allows multiplayer but requires a PC. The PC doesn't need to be good, it just needs to run Steam. I played some public lobbies, but 99 percent of the time, I kept crashing, which is kind of sad. But when it does work, it's really awesome. I even joined a private lobby with my friends.
So, after two whole years, I still love the Quest 2, and I think you should get one too because it is cheap. Have a good day.
