Oxidative stress refers to the uncontrolled production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in aerobic organisms. Many pesticides, including coumaphos, fipronil, paraquat, organophosphorus, pyrethroid, organochlorinated, and chlorpyrifos, have been shown to cause oxidative stress in bees. In this study, exposure to imidacloprid resulted in severe oxidative stress and lipid damage in bee larvae. To combat oxidative stress, organisms have evolved an antioxidant defense mechanism that includes increasing the levels of antioxidants such as CAT, SOD, GSH, TrxR, and GSH. Previous studies have shown that exposure to coumaphos and imidacloprid caused oxidative stress and increased the expression of antioxidants in adult bees. This study investigated the role of the antioxidant system in bee larvae in resistance to imidacloprid stress. The results showed that the antioxidant system in developing larvae was well established and utilized to resist oxidative stress caused by imidacloprid. The larval antioxidant system was more robust under higher concentrations of imidacloprid stress than the adult antioxidant system. Further investigation is needed to understand this phenomenon
